Boats of the Sun, ash of earth

Imatra Art museum

Boats of the Sun, ash of earth is an installation I did as my thesis work upon graduating from LAB University of Applied Sciences' Degree Programme in Fine Arts.  The purpose of this work was to study human condition, cyclical perspective of time, as well as change and immutability as the dualistic counterparts of cyclical time. The contradiction behind this work was the idea that the humanity is unable to change unless we change.

Materials used in this thesis were lead, ash, coal, and plaster. How these different materials coexist, are presented, and are related to the theory was a vital part of this study.
